The South Asian Student Association (SASA) at the University of Oklahoma is eager to present you and your business an opportunity to become a presence on campus and to give back to the rich history and tradition at the University of Oklahoma. We are a cultural student organization that is open to all students wishing to experience what south asian culture has to offer.  Our purpose is to promote South Asian culture to students on campus through activities that educate and celebrate the rich south asian heritage and traditions such as festivals, food, and a regional dance competition.

 

SASA organizes two main events throughout the school year: South Asian Week (Fall) and Norman Nachle (Spring). South Asian Week consists of events such as a showing of a Bollywood movie and traditional dance called Garba. Norman Nachle is Oklahoma’s largest intercollegiate South-Asian dance competition that showcases performances representing South Asian-American culture.  

 

This year SASA has decided to implement a new philanthropy named Bridges of Norman. Bridges of Norman’s mission is “to empower high school students in family crises to pursue education without obstacles.” Some of the things the organization tries to help with are food, clothing, shelter, and healthcare needs. Moreover, the organization helps students receive counseling in life skills. Unfortunately, there is no other program in the area that provides similar resources. This organization partners with Norman Public School, the Norman Housing Authority, and the United Way of Norman to help fund its resources. Along with these community businesses, they rely on individuals for support.

 

This is an incredible time for the South Asian Student Association to enhance its presence on campus. Our plan is to revitalize South Asia Week, including new activities that appeal to a wider portion of the student body. We also would like to expand our outreach for Norman Nachle. You can help us do so while also benefiting your business. In this packet, you will find a list of sponsorship opportunities that are beneficial to your business.
